Welcome to our Sword School
Providing an excellent gathering place for those who wish to practice the virtues of swordsplay. Helping the next generation earn the discipline they need to win in life.
Adult students have the opportunity to enjoy instruction taught in forms recognized as HEMA (Historic European Martial Arts). Instruction and practice is grounded in the works of authentic masters, passed down by treatises to modern practitioners. We use HEMA recognized equipment and rule sets in this endeavor.
Students under the age of 18 enjoy learning in our SCS (Soft Combat Sports) program. All equipment for young students is made of specialized soft plastic materials designed specifically for their safety needs. SCS is a globally recognized sword sport with thousands of students who compete under a strict set of rules of training and conduct. In this way the rising generation can develop a strong foundation of the sword arts without associated risks found in steel practice.

In the British Military Saber class we shall practice aspects of Mr. Taylors Ten Lessons whose work was printed in “The Art of Defense on Foot” by C. Roworth in 1804. Mr. Taylor was a celebrated fencing instructor of his day as the Sword Master to the Light Horse Volunteers of London and Westminster. In addition “The Art of Defense on Foot” was a manual designed to incorporate Scottish Broadsword, Spadroon, and Saber into one system. Any of these sword types are welcome in this class.
Instead of repeating each lesson in its entirety as originally printed, in class we will use Taylors Ten Lessons as a framework to zero in on skills we can learn from each original lesson. The aim is to use modern methodologies of instruction instead of 18th Century military line drill. By doing so each fencer can learn more than just wrote muscle memory tactics but have a deeper understanding of saber fencing principles. In this class students should expect to learn:
